Junior Music Clubs
St. Cecilia Junior Music Clubs are a wonderful opportunity for students grades K-12 to enter a very special world of musical fun, learning, performance and appreciation – creating the foundation for a lifelong love of music.
KICKOFF MEETING: SEPTEMBER 28, 2012 4:15-5:15pm
Clubs meet Fridays, October through February, 4:15-5:15 p.m.
Opus I – Grades K-2 (1st Friday of month)
Crescendo – Grades 3-5 (1st Friday of month)
Overtones – Grades 6-8 (2nd Friday of month)
Young Musicians – Grades 9-12 (3rd Friday of month)
• Hear performances by professional musicians
• Showcase your own musical abilities by choosing to perform
• Enjoy the company of music-minded peers
Junior Music Club members are eligible to compete annually for scholarships of up to $1,000 awarded for summer camps, music workshops, seminars or classes. Competitions are open to any Junior Music Club member in good standing who meets the eligibility requirements of the particular scholarship.
Festival Cup Opportunities
Junior Music Club students are eligible to perform at the NFMC Festival, which is sponsored by St. Cecilia and held every winter. An independent judge evaluates performances in a variety of categories and awards points to be used toward various-sized gold cups in each category. Students must be taking lessons from a private teacher who is a St. Cecilia donor to particiapte in club performances and Festival Cup.
$15 per year
Free to all St. Cecilia School of Music ensemble students or those whose families are St. Cecilia annual fund donors at the member level or above.
St. Cecilia Music Center Junior Music Clubs are affiliated with the National Federation of Music Clubs (NFMC) and follow the NFMC’s rules for compensation and dues.
