Outreach programs supported by our generous donors

St. Cecilia Music Center provides two outreach programs supported by generous donors. Music education has a considerable influence on how a student matures into a healthy adult. These programs have been designed to nurture the creative gifts of young people. The gift of music helps to build and strengthen family and community values while focusing on hard work, self-esteem, cooperation and the joy of achievement.
These two string programs offer students in the Grand Rapids Schools beginning string instruction, which otherwise would not be available due to budget cuts in music education funding.
6th Grade In-School Program
A beginning string ensemble program provided during the school day at Blandford Environmental School, Zoo School and Economicology School. Students receive two hours of instruction per week.
Elementary After-school Program
A FREE after-school music program offered by St. Cecilia Music Center with support from Frey Foundation, Target and other donors. St. Cecilia provides violins, violas and cellos. Currently this program is offered at Harrison Park Elementary with future plans for expansion to other schools. Students receive two hours of instruction per week.
