St. Cecilia Music Center - Music Lives Here

Chuck Royce Memorial

2015-01-12 12.15.35We are greatly saddened by the recent passing of Chuck Royce on Saturday, June 20, 2015.

A memorial service will take place at St. Cecilia Music Center at 11:00am on Monday, June 29, with visitation with the family beginning at 10:00am.

A friend, a lover of music, and a generous supporter of the arts, Mr. Royce will be greatly missed by all of us at St. Cecilia Music Center.

“St. Cecilia has a long long tradition. It’s the Mother of the Arts, where the Symphony, the Opera, the Civic Theatre all had their origins. And the number of fabulous artists that have performed at St. Cecilia Music Center…a legacy…is such a wonderful thing.”
– Chuck Royce on the history of St. Cecilia Music Center –

At the request of the Royce family, in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the St. Cecilia Music Center Annual Fund.

Our 2015-16 Presenting Season brings the world’s best artists in the genres of Chamber Music, Jazz and Folk to perform on the historic Royce Auditorium Stage.

Constructed in 1894, Royce Auditorium has been called “the Carnegie Hall of the Mid-West.” Designed by famed Chicago Architect Henry Ives Cobb, the Auditorium is known for its intimacy (less than 700 seats) and its acoustic superiority.
